Is there a difference between curing and healing? Often the terms are used interchangeably, and the distinctions seem subtle. But there can be an important difference-apparent to the certified therapeutic harpists who provide live harp music through Harps for the Spirit program at Pilgrim Place.
For many, a time may come in their life when a “cure” is no longer possible – the aging, injured or ill body no longer responds to medication, surgery or other forms of medical intervention. But that does not mean the end of caring – or indeed of healing. Healing is a much broader and deeper place, encompassing not only physical comfort, but also emotional and spiritual wholeness – a total sense of well-being even as the physical body can no longer be cured.
The caring and “acts of healing” embodied by the team effort of a harpist and a trained volunteer provide this sense of wholeness not only to the chronically and seriously ill, but also to loved ones who receive emotional and spiritual support.
Harps for the Spirit provides live harp music for the seriously ill and dying in hospitals, assisted living centers, hospice home centers and skilled nursing facilities in the Inland Valley communities of Claremont, La Verne, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga, San Dimas, and Upland.
