Catch the Spirit
More than 185 people attended the annual "Catch the Spirit of Pilgrim Place" event on May 16, 2011. A unique, intentional community, Pilgrim Place residents all share a common commitment to social justice, peaceful living, and prophetic environmentalism. Keynote speaker Michael Shea, AIA shared his piece titled, "Less is more"...than the Bottom Line which perfectly embraced the evening's theme: Going Green: A Journey Toward Sustainability.
Pilgrim Place supporters were given the unique opportunity to behold residents' passionate commitment to environmentalism and sustainability. "This glimpse of what life can be like when people intentionally partner to make the planet a healthier, better place is inspiring," said a community member attending the event. He added, "I felt charged and ready to make positive changes in my life."
In addition to sharing in the Pilgrim Place community spirit, this event honors community volunteers. "This is our opportunity to thank the many volunteers for all that they do for us," said Bill Cunitz, President and CEO, "their support, and the ways in which they support us. And we also want to share our commitment to them and what we do here."
Three very special volunteers were recognized for the commitment to supporting Pilgrim Place. The honorees included: Anthea McDonald, Barbara McKenzie and Clive Gray. "It is the commitment of people like this - Clive, Barbara, and Anthea - that make us truly blessed here at Pilgrim Place. We would not be the same without them," remarked Cunitz.
Organically Grown, Local Food was featured the entire evening.
